Story[]

Chapter 1[]

The story starts with Edd waiting outside Peach Creek Junior High on a Thursday afternoon. Ed and Eddy are in detention for counterfeiting money using the art room's printing press. When Ed and Eddy are released from detention, they along with Edd start walking to the cul-de-sac. Eddy complains that he hates school and wants to know when summer vacation will start. Edd replies that summer vacation won't start for another three months, causing Eddy to groan. Ed suggests they go to his house and they do so. When they arrive at Ed's house, they go to his bedroom.

Ed and Eddy watch TV while Edd works on homework. Edd tells Eddy that when he agreed to their home study group, he thought all three Eds would do their fair share. Eddy reminds Edd that if he or Ed did any work, his grade average would go down the tubes, which Edd unhappily accepts. Eddy asks Ed if there's anything good on TV and then, Ed finds a commercial about Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. Eddy thinks Foster's is lame but Ed doesn't. They argue about it until Edd interrupts them and complains that he's trying to concentrate on homework.

Ed and Eddy watch the commercial. When it ends, Eddy starts thinking about all the freedom the imaginary friends at Foster's have and it gives him an idea, which excites Ed and annoys Edd. Eddy thinks that if the Eds were imaginary, they could live at Foster's and do whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted. They'd be living the easy life because they wouldn't have to go to school, do homework, etc. Ed likes this idea and comments that he has always wanted to visit Foster's.

Edd points out that the Eds aren't imaginary and Eddy argues that the people at Foster's don't know that. He suggests pretending to be imaginary so the Eds can move into Foster's. Edd is against the idea because it involves lying but is forced to go along with it when Eddy uses the secret of what's under his hat as blackmail. Ed is excited about visiting Foster's and says it'll be fun. Edd asks when they plan on going to Foster's and Eddy replies that they'll go first thing in the morning. Edd reminds Eddy that they have school in the morning and tells him they should wait until after school to go to Foster's but Eddy doesn't want to wait that long.

That night, the Eds visit the Foster's website, find the house address and a map to the home. They also find out that Foster's is only 30 minutes away from Peach Creek. The next morning, which is Friday, the Eds leave Peach Creek and walk to Foster's. Edd disapproves of the fact that they're skipping school because it's against the law and it'll ruin his perfect attendance record but Eddy tells him to get over it and that once they get to Foster's, they won't have to go to school anymore.

When the Eds arrive at Foster's, they walk through the gate entrance and up to the front porch and Ed comments on how big the house is. Eddy knocks on the front door but no one answers it, which makes him grow impatient. Ed thinks that maybe, no one's home and Edd comments that it might take a while for someone to answer the door since the house is so big.

Mr. Herriman finally answers the door and greets the Eds. Ed thinks Herriman is the Easter Bunny and hugs him, which annoys Herriman especially because Ed stinks. Edd instructs Ed to let Herriman go and Eddy reminds him that it's not Easter yet. Ed lets Herriman go and Edd and Eddy wonder why Ed hasn't sneezed yet since he's allergic to rabbits. They assume Ed is immune to Herriman because he's an imaginary rabbit. Herriman complains about Ed hugging him and Edd explains to him that Ed loves animals. Herriman tells Ed not to hug him again and instructs the Eds to explain why they're at Foster's.

The Eds tell Herriman that their creator gave them up and now, they're looking for a new home. Herriman refuses to let the Eds in at first because they're just kids. But when Eddy tells him they're imaginary kids and he Ed and Edd stick out their tongues, he believes them and instructs the Eds to follow him into his office so they can fill out their paperwork. After the paperwork is done and introductions are made, Herriman welcomes the Eds into Foster's and offers them a tour of the home. The Eds agree to the tour and then, Herriman calls Frankie into his office. When Eddy sees Frankie, he immediately falls in love with her. Herriman instructs Frankie to give the Eds a tour of Foster's. She thinks they're just human kids at first but Herriman tells her they're imaginary kids.

The Eds and Frankie leave Herriman's office and introduce themselves. Eddy asks Frankie if she's single and it makes her feel awkward. She dismisses it and starts the tour. During the tour, the Eds are fascinated by the size of the house and all the imaginary friends they see. After the tour, Frankie shows the Eds their new bedroom. Edd thanks Frankie for the tour and then, she leaves the bedroom. Eddy goes outside the bedroom and watches her walk down the hallway. He thinks Frankie is even hotter than Nazz.

Eddy reenters the bedroom and says he can't believe Frankie and Mr. Herriman fell for their scam. Edd feels guilty about it and says it's wrong to take advantage of them. Eddy assures him that what they don't know won't hurt them. Edd asks what they should do now and Ed suggests meeting some of the imaginary friends. Edd and Eddy agree to that and the three of them start looking for some imaginary friends to hang out with.

Chapter 2[]

The Eds are wandering around the backyard, where various imaginary friends are playing. Edd thinks Foster's is marvelous, Ed thinks it's cool and Eddy thinks it's weird. The first imaginary friend they meet (second if you count Mr. Herriman) is Bloo. At first, Bloo thinks the Eds are looking for an imaginary friend but Eddy tells him they actually are imaginary friends. The Eds and Bloo introduce themselves and then, he introduces them to Wilt, Eduardo & Coco. The three of them think the Eds are just human kids at first but Bloo tells them they're imaginary kids.

Eddy befriends Bloo, Edd befriends Wilt and Ed befriends Eduardo. Ed likes Coco because she looks like a chicken, Eddy dislikes her because she looks like a bird and Edd finds it hard to communicate with her because she can only say the word, "coco". The Eds, Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo & Coco play a game of Whizbee together but the game ends when Ed accidentally throws the Whizbee so hard that it lands in the yard of Old Man Rivers, who scolds the gang for messing up his freshly cut lawn and confiscates their Whizbee.

After the Whizbee game, Frankie drops the Eds, Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo & Coco off at the Game Hive Arcade. Eduardo plays the Whack-A-Bee game, Wilt plays an electronic basketball game, Ed plays Super Mega Blasteroids 9, Edd plays miniature golf and Eddy and Bloo play skeeball. Edd notices Eddy and Bloo are throwing the skeeballs instead of rolling them. Eddy decides that technique isn't working and tries something else. He climbs onto the machine and drops the skeeballs into the highest-scoring hole. Edd disapproves of cheating and warns Eddy that they could get kicked out of the arcade if they get caught. Eddy replies that even if they do, they still have an arcade back at Foster's. Bloo helps Eddy cheat while Edd decides he would rather play fair.

When the gang is done playing games, they have pizza for lunch. During lunch, Eddy sees a truant officer walk into the arcade. This makes him panic because he knows that if the truant officer finds the Eds, he'll wreck their scam and send them back to Peach Creek. Eddy suggests to Ed and Edd that they go get more soda as an excuse for them to leave without Bloo and the others getting suspicious. The Eds rush over to the playground and into the ball pit. Eddy informs Ed and Edd about the truant officer and when they see him, they panic as well. Edd realizes that the truant officer is looking for the Eds because they're skipping school and Ed points out what'll happen if they get caught by him. The Eds hide under the balls so the truant officer won't find them.

The Eds' doppelgangers from the Foster's episode, Eddie Monster

Luckily for the Eds, their doppelgangers from the Foster's episode, Eddie Monster, are at the arcade too and the truant officer mistakes them for the real Eds. As the doppelgangers are escorted out of the arcade, the real Eds see them and are relieved to be safe from the truant officer. Edd reminds Eddy that they should've waited until after school to visit Foster's but Eddy says it doesn't matter now that they're off the hook. Ed and Edd comment on how identical the doppelgangers are to the Eds and how easy it was to confuse the truant officer. Eddy likes the idea of the doppelgangers taking the Eds' place back in Peach Creek because it means the Eds can stay at Foster's for as long as they want. Edd wonders if they should feel guilty about the doppelgangers' predicament. Eddy thinks they'll be fine and the Eds head back to lunch.

Chapter 3[]

Later that afternoon, the gang returns to Foster's. The Eds find Bloo in the foyer, waiting for Mac to show up and are surprised to find out Bloo lives at Foster's even though Mac hasn't given him up yet. Bloo explains that a deal was made where he can live at Foster's as long as Mac visits him everyday. Ed wishes his creator would visit him along with Edd and Eddy and right after he says that, someone knocks on the front door. Ed thinks it's their creator but it's really Mac. Bloo greets Mac and introduces him to the Eds. Mac thinks the Eds are human at first but Eddy tells him they're imaginary.

Shortly after Mac arrives, Madame Foster enters the foyer while carrying a plate of chocolate chip cookies. The Eds, Mac & Bloo rush over and start eating the cookies. When Madame Foster sees the Eds, she thinks they're Mac's friends from school. Mac tells her they're imaginary kids but she thinks they look human. Mac asks the Eds who created them but none of the Eds are prepared to answer that question. Luckily, Eddy thinks of something fast. He says their creator was a man who wanted kids and thought it'd be easier to make some up. Mac, Bloo & Madame Foster fall for that.

After eating the cookies, the Eds, Mac & Bloo go to the backyard and play another game of Whizbee. Ed throws the Whizbee too hard again and this time, it lands inside the Extremosaur cage. Mac and Bloo tell the Eds about Extremosaurs but Ed ignores them and wanders into the cage, prompting the others to go in after him. When the boys enter the cage, they see an Extremosaur sleeping against the back wall and it wakes up before they have a chance to grab the Whizbee. Edd, Eddy, Mac & Bloo are scared of the Extremosaur while Ed thinks it's the coolest thing ever. The Extremosaur doesn't feel the same way about Ed though and when it tries to crush him, Ed finally realizes how dangerous it is.

The boys run for the exit but before they can escape, the Extremosaur captures Edd and tries to eat him. Ed saves Edd by throwing the Whizbee at the Extremosaur's head, causing it to fall back and release him. When the boys finally escape from the cage, they close the door so the Extremosaur won't escape too. The Whizbee is destroyed so the boys decide to go inside the house and play a board game. A while later, Frankie asks Mac to help her cook dinner and Bloo asks him to stay for dinner, both of which Mac agrees to. Mac and Frankie leave and then, Bloo leaves to go watch TV.

When the Eds are alone, Eddy comments that he likes living at Foster's and that he plans on staying there forever. Edd, who is shocked by that, protests that they can't stay there for that long because if someone discovers the Eds aren't imaginary, they'll have to move out of Foster's and back to Peach Creek. Eddy, who isn't fazed by that, declares that the Eds are never going back to Peach Creek and that they'll be living large for the rest of their lives.

That evening, everyone is having spaghetti for dinner. The Eds, Mac, Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo & Coco are all sitting together. Ed points out that he, Edd, Eddy & Eduardo all have the same name. Edd notices Eddy is staring at Frankie and Bloo says it's because Eddy has a crush on her like Mac does. Mac is embarrassed and Bloo jokes that Mac has competition now. Eddy thinks Frankie would prefer him over Mac because he's older but Mac disagrees because he's human while Eddy is imaginary. Eddy knows he's not imaginary but he can't say that because he'll expose himself.

Eddy and Bloo decide to start a food fight. Ed and a bunch of imaginary friends join in while Edd, Mac, Wilt, Eduardo & Coco just watch. Frankie and Mr. Herriman try to stop the food fight but it gets so chaotic that they hide in the kitchen until it's over. The food fight ends when Bloo throws a breadstick at Edd and it knocks his hat off. Everyone sees what's under Edd's hat and Edd is so embarrassed that he starts to cry. He cleans his hat, puts it back on and runs out of the dining room. When Frankie and Herriman come back, Eddy and Bloo are sent to Herriman's office. He orders them to clean up the dining room as punishment for starting the food fight.

Mac goes upstairs to the Eds' bedroom and finds Edd sulking on his bed. Mac asks Edd if he's okay and apologizes for Bloo's immature behavior. Edd thanks Mac for his concern and says Eddy can be immature too. Eddy and Bloo enter the bedroom and complain about having to clean up the dining room. They don't want to do it themselves so they enlist Edd and Mac to help them.

Edd, Eddy, Mac & Bloo go back downstairs to the dining room and find Ed eating the leftovers from the food fight. The five of them clean up the dining room and when they're done, Mac leaves Foster's and goes home. Frankie enters the dining room and tells the Eds and Bloo that the next day is Adopt-A-Thought Saturday. Bloo gets upset about that and walks off.

Edd asks Frankie what Adopt-A-Thought Saturday is and Frankie says it's an event where imaginary friends get adopted into new homes. Eddy gets upset about that because he thought Foster's was a boarding house. Frankie adds that all imaginary friends who move into Foster's are put up for adoption, prompting the Eds to realize they are now in a predicament. Frankie notices their nervousness and questions whether or not they're imaginary friends. Not ready to give up on his scam yet, Eddy tells Frankie that the Eds really are imaginary friends and that they're looking forward to Adopt-A-Thought Saturday. Frankie believes Eddy and leaves the dining room.

Chapter 4[]

Edd and Eddy desperately try to figure out a way to avoid getting adopted. Ed wants to get adopted but Eddy reminds him that they can't because they're not imaginary. Edd complains that as long as the Eds live at Foster's, there's a good chance at least one of them will get adopted eventually. Eddy suggests telling Mr. Herriman they don't want to get adopted so they go to his office and do so. Unfortunately, that plan fails as Herriman says getting adopted is a house rule and that he can't make any exceptions or else Foster's will get too crowded.

After leaving Herriman's office, the Eds try to come up with another plan. Eddy suggests skipping Adopt-A-Thought Saturday but Edd says if they do that, Frankie and Herriman will become suspicious. Eddy points out that Foster's has hundreds of imaginary friends and argues that Frankie and Herriman can't possibly keep track of them all. Edd thinks Eddy has a point and Eddy suggests hiding somewhere until Adopt-A-Thought Saturday is over. He adds that if the Eds hide during every Adopt-A-Thought Saturday, they'll never get adopted. Edd says he hopes that plan works and that if it doesn't, tomorrow may be the Eds' last day at Foster's.

The next morning, Frankie wakes the Eds up early. Eddy complains about that and Frankie tells him all the imaginary friends at Foster's have to get up early on Adopt-A-Thought Saturday. The Eds go downstairs for breakfast and during breakfast, Mr. Herriman reminds everyone to be outside by the time Adopt-A-Thought Saturday starts. He also reminds Bloo to stay inside the house during Adopt-A-Thought Saturday, thus upsetting Eddy because he thought there were no exceptions to the "every imaginary friend at Foster's has to get adopted" rule.

After breakfast, the Eds go back upstairs and look for a place to hide while everyone else prepares for Adopt-A-Thought Saturday. Eddy complains about how Bloo is allowed to skip Adopt-A-Thought Saturday while the Eds aren't and Edd tells him Bloo can't get adopted because he already belongs to Mac. Ed suggests getting their creator to visit them everyday but Edd reminds him they don't have a creator. Ed then suggests imagining a friend and passing him off as their creator but Eddy rejects that idea because it would ruin the plot. He suggests they just hide in the attic instead.

A short while later, the Eds find themselves lost. They decide to ask someone for directions and the first person they find is Duchess. Ed and Eddy make fun of Duchess, thus angering her. She tries to throw a pillow at them but she misses. Edd asks Duchess for directions to the attic but she refuses to help them and forces the Eds through a trapdoor in her room. The trapdoor sends the Eds all the way up to the roof.

Edd is confused as to how they ended up on the roof because they should've gone down, not up. Eddy ignores that and finds a wall-ladder, which he thinks might lead to the attic. The Eds climb up the ladder, through a window and ultimately find the attic. Eddy declares it the perfect hideout. Edd, however, points out that they'll have to go downstairs if they want food or beverages. Eddy says they'll worry about that later and suggests they find some entertainment.

When Adopt-A-Thought Saturday starts, all the imaginary friends (except Bloo) assemble in the front yard and Mr. Herriman does a roll call. When he calls out the Eds' names and they don't answer, he notices they are missing and asks if anyone knows where they are. No one has seen them since breakfast so Herriman instructs Frankie to find the Eds and bring them outside so they won't miss Adopt-A-Thought Saturday.

Frankie enters the house and finds Bloo in the foyer. She asks him if he knows where the Eds are but he hasn't seen them since breakfast either. Frankie asks Bloo to help her find the Eds but he says he's too busy playing paddleball and waiting for Mac. Frankie is annoyed by Bloo's laziness but luckily for her, Duchess overhears the conversation and informs her that the Eds are in the attic.

Back in the attic, the Eds are watching a portable TV and they're startled when Frankie finds them. Eddy asks her how she found them and Frankie says she found out from Duchess. Frankie tells the Eds that Adopt-A-Thought Saturday is starting and asks them why they're not outside with everyone else. The Eds aren't sure how to answer that question.

They tell Frankie they still miss their creator a lot and that they're not comfortable with getting adopted yet. They've only been at Foster's for one day and they need more time to adjust. Frankie says she understands but because of the rule Herriman told them about earlier, the Eds still have to attend Adopt-A-Thought Saturday. Eddy argues that Bloo is an exception to said rule but Frankie tells him Bloo can't get adopted because he already belongs to Mac.

Edd and Eddy still don't want to attend Adopt-A-Thought Saturday but Ed does because he thinks it'll be fun. Frankie agrees with him and adds that Adopt-A-Thought Saturday has balloons, cupcakes and lemonade. She also warns the Eds that if they don't go, Herriman might kick them out of Foster's. Edd and Eddy don't want that to happen so they reluctantly decide to go to Adopt-A-Thought Saturday.

Eddy still doesn't want to give up on his scam so he tells Frankie that the Eds have to go to their bedroom and change clothes first so she'll leave and they'll have time to come up with another plan. Frankie is glad that the Eds are attending Adopt-A-Thought Saturday. She instructs them to join everyone in the front yard once they change clothes and then, she leaves the attic.

Chapter 5[]

Eddy complains about having to go to Adopt-A-Thought Saturday now. He argues that the Eds can't get adopted because the event is only for imaginary friends. Edd replies that Eddy's argument is false; because they were "created" by an adult who wanted kids, they can be adopted by an adult who wants kids. Eddy admits that he didn't think about that and Edd says all they can do is attend Adopt-A-Thought Saturday and hope they don't get adopted. Ed asks what'll happen if they do and Edd tells him they'll have to live with a stranger for who-knows-how-long and that they may never return to Foster's or Peach Creek.

Eddy says that won't happen because he has another plan. He points out that no one can get adopted if no one shows up at Adopt-A-Thought Saturday. Edd realizes that Eddy plans to sabotage the event and immediately backs out, saying that it's going overboard. Eddy, wanting to do whatever it takes to make his scam last, once again uses the secret of what's under Edd's hat as blackmail. Edd thinks Eddy has no leverage over him since everyone at Foster's has already seen him without his hat but when Eddy reminds him that the kids back at the cul-de-sac haven't, Edd reluctantly gives in.

After changing clothes, the Eds go to the front yard, where Adopt-A-Thought Saturday is happening. Since Frankie and Herriman never told them how long they had to stay there, the Eds decide to stay out for a while before they'll go back inside and put their new plan into action later. Ed and Eddy get some cupcakes and lemonade from the snack table while Edd worries about getting adopted. Eddy tells him to relax and assures him that no one's going to adopt human kids from a foster home for imaginary friends.

Eddy came up with an idea to trick the customers into thinking that the cupcakes and lemonade are not free and the have to pay 25 cents for them. Edd think that was unwise as he knew that they are meant to be free. The Eds were selling cupcakes and lemonade to several of the customers, except one guy gave a suspicion look to the Eds has he get the feeling that they are faking to be Imaginary friends. After the Eds ran out of cupcakes and lemonade, Mr Herriman shows up and tells them that they should not be charging the customers money them as Foster's is a nonprofit organization. Mr Herriman then confiscated their Quarters and walks off.

The Eds were ready to head back inside of the mansion to get their plan started, but then they ran into someone, which is Goo. Goo and the Eds introduce themselves and Goo gets amazed has the Eds have the same word "ED" at the beginning of their names just like Eduardo. She also explains to the Eds that she is an expert on imaginary friends and can help them look for one. However, she started to talk very fast like she normally does which started to annoy the Eds. Eddy has had enough and angrily tells Goo to shut up. Goo then walks off, suggesting they've been had a bad morning when they woke up. The Eds then walked onto the porch walk into the mansion. Goo then noticed them and gave a suspicious look at them, wondering why would they be here if they are not imaginary?

Chapter 6[]

The Eds are now in the mansion's foyer, making sure that no one else was there with them. Edd asks Eddy how do he plans on ending Adopt-A-Thought Saturday? Ed suggested that they would let out the Extremeasaur which shocks Edd and Eddy as they were not trying to hurt no one but get all the people to leave. Eddy comes up with the idea of doing the El Mongo Stink Bomb, which they did in the episode, Fool on the Ed. But this time they are making it small. After the Eds got a lot of supplies they need do recreate their El Mongo Stink Bomb, they walk to the garage and started working on it. They added all the ingredients in the bomb's liquid, including Ed's stinky sock.

The Bomb was finally finished. Ed opens the garage door, Edd activates the remote, and Eddy cut the rope with a pair of scissors to release bomb, allowing it to travel forward in the air. Eddy cheers as the El Mongo Stink Bomb made it out of the garage all the way since it was small. He then ask Edd how much seconds until the bomb explodes and Edd answers approximately 30 seconds. As Ed closes the garage door, Eddy runs to the window and see the stink bomb flying towards the front yard, satisfied that Adopt-A-Thought Saturday will finally come to an end so they won't get adopted. However, Edd was not happy about doing this since the other imaginary friends won't get adopted either.

  • Meanwhile back in the front lawn, Adopt-A-Thought Saturday was still going on, until the El Mongo Stink Bomb finally made its way in the yard and explodes,
